"We do not

inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children."

Green Initiatives Banner.jpg

We feel that understanding green initiatives such as recycling, rain water collection, and composting begins with education. Teaching both children and adults about the importance of diverting landfill waste through practicing the 3R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) allows for a better understanding of not just the 'what' but the 'why' as well.

As an affiliate of Keep Texas Beautiful, we are involved in America Recycles Day, Waste In Place Training, and hold an annual Junk Round Up as part of our Great Hutto Cleanup. Providing opportunities for safe disposal of undesirable items and encouraging friendly recycling competitions, are just some of the ways we strive to Keep Hutto Beautiful.

Keep Hutto Beautiful is dedicated to the beautification and sustainability of the Hutto Community. Our mission is to inspire the community to be environmentally engaged by providing education, resources, green initiatives and beautification opportunities.

America Recycles Day, a Keep America Beautiful initiative, is the only nationally recognized day and coast-to-coast community-driven awareness campaign dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the United States.

The Junk Round Up portion of the Great Hutto Cleanup collects bulk waste, tires, metal, cardboard, electronics, paper, as well BOPA (Battery, Oil, Paint, Anti-Freeze) materials to divert from the landfill.

Recycle-Bowl is a free competition for K-12 school recycling programs to promote waste reduction activities. School recycling programs across the nation compete in a race to collect the most recyclables.

Waste In Place teaches our future leaders the importance of litter prevention, natural resources, and solid waste management.

The Keep America Beautiful mission is to inspire and educate people to take action every day to improve and beautify their community environment.

For 30 Years, Don't Mess With Texas has channelled Texas-Sized state pride to remind Texans to keep trash off our roads. Inspired by true Texas pride, they go to great lengths to keep our state litter-free with award-winning ads, statewide road tours, education programs, and contests.

The Keep Texas Beautiful mission is to educate and engage Texans to take responsibility for improving their community environment. They do this through programming and education addressing their three focus areas: Litter Prevention, Beautification, and Waste Reduction.

Take Care of Texas is a statewide campaign from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality that provides helpful information on Texas’ successes in environmental protection and encourages all Texans to help keep our air and water clean, conserve water and energy, reduce waste, and save a little money in the process!

There are many reasons to recycle plastic bottles. For starters, recycling reduces the pollution that can come from the chemicals used to make these bottles. Recycling also helps cut down on the amount of trash thrown into landfills, so our garbage doesn't take up as much space. Recycling also creates jobs for people who collect recyclable things and work at places that turn them into new materials. Learn more about the process of Plastic Bottle Recycling by clicking on the link! Special thanks to student Ellie for sharing this resource!
