Hutto, TX, November 15, 2019– Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB) has recognized Keep Hutto Beautiful as a recipient of a 2019 Green Bag Grant. Through funding from H-E-B and Central Market, Keep Texas Beautiful will provide 12 affiliate communities with a share of $25,000 to support educational and programmatic opportunities relating to sustainability, recycling, litter prevention, beautification and water conservation.

Keep Hutto Beautiful will be working to increase recycling education outreach within the Hutto Community. To accomplish this project, the nonprofit will be focusing on youth recycling education in the schools, promoting local business participation through creating drop off points for specialty recycling items, and creating a digital marketing campaign that educates the Hutto Community on recycling, contamination issues, and plastic reduction and proper plastic recycling.

To assist with the implementation of their project, Keep Hutto Beautiful has received $2,500 to begin and support their proposed community project. KTB will also provide additional social media and marketing support. Keep Hutto Beautiful will complete their project by July 2020.  

 

In addition to Hutto, the affiliate communities of Abilene, Aransas County, Austin, Cedar Hill, Friendswood, Levelland, Lewisville, Midland, Plano, Santa Fe, and Wilson County also received a Green Bag Grant.

Keep Hutto Beautiful is dedicated to the beautification and sustainability of the Hutto Community. The landscape of recycling is changing which creates an opportunity for growth in the way KHB handles its educational outreach. Through the Green Bag Grant, this new recycling education initiative will impact Hutto’s view on sustainability for years to come.
